The ice maker code on Bertazzoni refrigerators is printed two ways, E0 with a zero and EO with the letter O. The manuals treat them as the same code. What differs is how much each manual says about it.
Three manuals, two levels of detail
| Manual | Wording | Instruction |
|---|---|---|
| REF36FDFZXNT | Ice maker freezing initialization has failed | None given |
| REF36FDFIXNV / IXNB | Ice maker error | Contact Customer Service |
| RFD36FZNX / FZNW | Ice maker fault | Contact maintenance personnel |
These do not contradict each other. The first is just more specific. The first manual words it as “Ice maker freezing initialization has failed” and gives no further detail.
Does the refrigerator still work?
The two other manuals say that with these fault codes the refrigerator can still cool and freeze, but you should have it looked at to keep normal use. So the food compartments are not the concern here. The ice supply is.
Sensible steps
- Press any button to stop the alarm chime, where your model has one.
- Arrange a technician visit instead of repeated resets.
A note on reading the display
The O and the zero look alike on a small display, and different documents print either. If you search for one spelling and find nothing, try the other. Both lead to the same ice maker entry in Bertazzoni’s fault tables, and the technician will not care which you read as long as you describe what the screen shows.

Call (415) 692-0756. Please tell us whether your display reads a zero or the letter O, and read the model number from the nameplate.
Model compatibility: Bertazzoni reuses codes across series and model years, so E0 / EO may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
