What EH stands for
Three Bertazzoni 36 inch refrigerator manuals carry the letters EH in their fault lists, and all give the same meaning: humidity sensor failure. One words it as “the humidity sensor has failed,” another as “humidity sensor error,” and the third as “humidity sensor fault.”
Where humidity comes in
The REF36FDFZXNT manual has a section on humidity control for the crisper drawers. We will not link the code to that section ourselves, because the error table does not say where the sensor sits or what it controls. We only know the sensor is one of the refrigerator’s monitored inputs, and that EH means it has stopped reporting properly.
Is it urgent?
Two of the three manuals say the refrigerator can still cool and freeze when these codes appear, and that the user should contact the service technician or maintenance personnel so the refrigerator works normally. Neither suggests moving food out.
| If you see EH | Do |
|---|---|
| Chime sounding | Press any button (36 inch ice maker model) |
| Several codes cycling | Copy all of them down |
The manual lists no reset and no owner check.
Keeping watch
While you wait for the visit, watch for the things the manual would consider normal for a refrigerator: the compartments staying cold, the freezer holding its temperature, and no new codes cycling in. If anything else changes, such as warm food or a second code, tell the technician when you book.
Related sensor codes
- E7: the ambient temperature sensor, which sits next to EH in the manuals’ lists
- E1: the refrigerator compartment sensor
