Of the ice maker codes on the Bertazzoni REF36FDFZXNT, F6 is the one about starting up: “Ice maker initialization has failed.”
Reading the wording
Initialization is the first step a device performs when it begins working. The manual does not describe what the ice maker does in that step, so we can only say that something in the start-up check did not complete. A neighboring code, E0, covers freezing initialization specifically; F6 is the general wording.
Display notes from the manual
- Codes show in the digital temperature area while the panel is in locked mode.
- More than one fault means codes take turns on the screen, with an alarm chime.
- Any button turns off the chime.
- Once the problem is resolved the code disappears.
What we recommend
No owner checks or reset are published for F6. Repeated unplugging is not part of any instruction in the manual. If the ice maker is not producing, tell the technician what it did before the code came up, such as whether it was making ice normally.
What a technician will want to know
When F6 first showed, whether the ice maker had just been switched on or off, and whether any water or ice supply work was done recently. These are observations only. They do not change the instruction, which is to have the refrigerator looked at.

Model compatibility: Bertazzoni reuses codes across series and model years, so F6 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
