The ambient sensor is the odd one out among Bertazzoni’s refrigerator sensors. The others look inside the cabinet; E7 reports on the room around it.
Refrigerator: ambient temperature sensor
Three Bertazzoni refrigerator manuals define E7 as an ambient temperature sensor failure (one says “ambient temperature fault”). An ambient sensor reads the room temperature, and E7 says that reading is not coming through. The manuals advise contacting service. They also say the refrigerator can still provide cooling and freezing.
What you can do yourself is small but real:
- Press any button to stop the chime on the 36 inch ice maker model, where the manual describes one.
Wine cooler: middle zone frosting probe
In the wine cooler manual, E7 and E8 are the open and short circuit codes of the middle zone frosting probe. E7 is the open one. The three-tic buzzer and a code flashing every ten seconds accompany it, and the on/off key mutes the alarm.
Why the same number
There is no link between a room sensor and a middle zone probe. The wine cooler manual and the refrigerator manuals simply reuse the number.
What to have ready
The appliance type, the code, and the model number are the three facts that matter. On a refrigerator, add the approximate room temperature if the kitchen runs unusually hot or cold. On the wine cooler, add the zone display that shows the code.

Call (415) 692-0756. Share the appliance type and the nameplate model number when you do.
Model compatibility: Bertazzoni reuses codes across series and model years, so E7 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
