E6 on a refrigerator
The control panel you touch is one circuit board, the main control board is another, and E6 appears when they stop exchanging data. Three Bertazzoni refrigerator manuals list it that way (one of them just says “communication fault”). Two of them also say the refrigerator still cools and freezes, but a service call is advised.
It is not the only communication code. CA is the ice board’s version, and EC / CE is the version on the 24 inch bottom-mount models.
E6 on the wine cooler
Here the code has nothing to do with boards. E6 is the short-circuit entry for the middle zone in-cabinet probe, matched with E5 for the open-circuit case. The manual’s note says the buzzer tics three times, the code flashes on the display every ten seconds, and the on/off key silences the alarm.
Do you need to act right away?
For the refrigerator, the manuals do not describe an emergency. Food keeps its cooling. Even so, the manuals ask for a service call, so book one instead of living with the code. For the cooler, the manual gives no effect on temperature control, so a thermometer reading is the only way to know how your bottles are doing.
Why not just reset it
Bertazzoni publishes no reset for E6 in either appliance, so we do not recommend cycling power. Leave the appliance as it is, note when the code shows, and let the technician see it as it behaves.

Phone (415) 692-0756. Tell us if it is the refrigerator or the wine cooler, and what the nameplate says for the model.
Model compatibility: Bertazzoni reuses codes across series and model years, so E6 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
