This is one of the few Bertazzoni dishwasher codes you can often cure with a cloth. E9 (E09 in some lists) means the control panel believes a button has been held down for more than 30 seconds.
Why a button would seem pressed
The DW24XV manual lists the cause as water or something on the button. The DW24PR and DW18PR manuals describe it as the button sticking, and say the warning is resolved when the button is released. Both explanations come to the same thing: the panel keeps reading a press that is not there, or that is stuck.
Try these
- Look at the panel for beads of water, dried detergent, or anything resting on a button.
- Wipe it with a soft damp cloth, then dry it.
- Restart.
Keep the cloth wrung out; liquid running behind the panel is not helpful.
When to stop
If a button truly remains down, or the code returns on a clean dry panel, the manuals give no further step. The panel is a part to be examined by a technician, and the machine should not be opened at home.
A note on cleaning the panel
Dried detergent or rinse aid around the buttons can hold a button down just as water can. Wipe it clean, and let the panel dry fully before you reconnect power.
