On a refrigerator
Three Bertazzoni refrigerator manuals agree that E2 is the freezer’s own temperature sensor. The control board uses it to judge how cold the freezer is. When it fails, the board is missing that reading, and the display shows the code. According to two of the manuals the unit keeps cooling and freezing, so you have time to arrange a visit, though it is wise to watch the freezer contents until it is seen.
If several faults exist at once, the 36 inch model with the ice maker rotates the codes on its locked display.
On the wine cooler
E2 is the short-circuit partner of E1, for the same upper zone in-cabinet probe. A short means the probe’s wiring is reading as bridged. The cooler’s alarm is three tics, then the code flashing on the display about every ten seconds.
Before you call
Have the model number from the nameplate, the code as displayed, and a note of whether the freezer or the cooler zone feels normal. On the refrigerator, give us the model number so we can match the right manual.
Do not mix up
E1 and E2 are neighbors in numbering but are separate faults: on the refrigerator they are the fridge and freezer sensors, and on the cooler they are open versus short on one probe.
- E1: the matching fridge-side or open-circuit entry
- F4: freezer compartment sensor on bottom-mount models
- E5: freezer frost sensor
Refrigerator and wine cooler repair in San Francisco
Call (415) 692-0756. Please tell us whether it is the refrigerator or the wine cooler, plus the model number from the nameplate.
Model compatibility: Bertazzoni reuses codes across series and model years, so E2 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
