An induction hob has two jobs split between boards: one reads your touch and shows the numbers, another switches power to the coils. For this to work, the two must talk. F1 says they have stopped talking. Bertazzoni’s manual words it as a failed connection between the display board and the left mainboard, with an E on the cooking zone indicator.
Two causes, two remedies
- Connection cable not correctly plugged or defective. The link between the boards is a cable. If it is not seated or is damaged, the signal does not pass.
- Replace the mainboard. This is the manual’s second line, for when the cable is not the problem.
A loose cable and a failed board look the same from the outside, which is why the manual lists them together. The manual does not say how to tell which of the two applies. Only a technician with the hob open can do that.
What not to attempt
Both lines of the table need the glass lifted and electronics handled. Bertazzoni warns against disassembling the unit and says to contact the supplier when service is needed. Switch the hob off at its supply.
Cross-reference
- F4: a failed sensor on the mainboard, also fixed with a new mainboard
- E5: a sensor failure that also lists an unplugged cable among its causes
FAQ
Why does the zone indicator show E? The manual notes that the indicator of the cooking zone shows E alongside this fault. It does not explain more.
