E15 in daily use
This version is different from a new-pan story. The cookware has worked on this cooktop for years, and now the same zone refuses all of it, while a neighboring zone behaves. Often owners tell us it began after a heavy cooking session or after the cooktop was moved or cleaned. The loss of a zone that was reliable is the main symptom to describe. A zone that fails with every pan is a different observation from one that works with some pans and not others.
Cooktops in older homes with small kitchens often take more abuse at the corner zones, because pots slide there during cleaning. Note whether the affected zone is a corner one.
If the glass looks cracked anywhere, stop using the cooktop, because liquid can reach live parts through a crack. Do not wait for the visit to turn the zone back on. Cover the cooktop with a dry towel to keep spills away and tell us when you book. Photograph the zone and the display for the visit.
Checks that are safe for an owner
- Test with two pans of different sizes on that zone, and with the same pan on another zone.
- Look at the glass over that zone for hairline cracks or a dull, burnt-looking patch.
- Check that the zone worked recently by asking others in the household what changed.
Meaning of the code
E15 is not tied to one confirmed definition for all Bertazzoni cooktops. For models with induction zones, a code tied to what sits on the zone is plausible, but the model number and the measurement decide it. We never call it a failed coil from the characters alone.
Inside checks start with
When every pan fails on one zone, the zone’s own parts come first: the coil under the glass, the connection from that coil to the board, and the board’s detection circuit for that position. A cracked or shifted coil, or a connector with a high-resistance contact, can look like a pan problem. Pan detection is the circuit’s way of sensing that cookware is present before the coil heats, so a fault there can make the zone act as though the pan were missing.
Technician or not
Once pans are ruled out, the repair path is technician work. It includes measuring the coil, the connection and the board’s response with a known load, and that needs the cooktop lifted and live. You get a written estimate listing only what the tests show.
Frequently asked questions
If three or more pieces that work on other zones fail on this one, the pans are unlikely to be the cause.
A cracked or heat-damaged glass can alter behavior and is a safety matter. Stop using the cooktop if you see cracks.
Yes. Healthy neighbors suggest the cause is local to that zone.
Model compatibility: Bertazzoni reuses codes across series and model years, so E15 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
