How E06 tends to show up
Winter storms and utility work around the Bay can leave a kitchen dark for an hour or more. When power returns, the clock on the oven blinks and, on the next cooktop use, E06 sits on the display. Some owners also notice that only a certain zone is affected. What matters is that the cooktop worked the day before and the only change was the supply, so the sequence belongs in your notes.
If your block lost power twice in a week, tell us both dates. Repeated events strengthen the case for a board that has been stressed.
Photograph the breaker panel before you touch anything, and write down which other circuits had to be reset. A kitchen where the refrigerator, microwave and cooktop all lost settings at once tells a different story from one where only the cooktop acted up. Do not repeatedly cycle the breaker to chase the code away; each cycle sends another start-up surge to the same board.
Reading the code
Whether E06 is defined as a supply condition, a control message or something else depends on the control generation of your Bertazzoni cooktop, and we do not guess at it. That is why E06 on one cooktop cannot be assumed to mean the same as E06 on another. The model number on the data label and the circumstances of the first appearance are what we use to choose the right reading.
First assemblies in line
After an outage, the first look is at the supply to the cooktop: the breaker position, the connection at the junction, and the board that starts up when power returns. Voltage spikes during restoration can stress a board, so its condition and the connectors on it are inspected before any zone-level part. A code that appears once after an outage and then stays away is a different observation from one that returns on every start.
Outside checks
- Check the breaker panel for the cooktop breaker and make sure it sits fully on, not in the middle.
- Look at other kitchen appliances to see whether they also lost settings, which tells you the whole circuit was affected.
- Wait ten minutes and try the cooktop once more before concluding anything.
Why a technician is needed
If E06 remains once the supply is confirmed good, the board may have been affected by the restoration surge. This is a measurement job under the glass with the supply live, and that is why a technician handles it, with a written estimate before any board is replaced. If only one zone is affected, that zone is measured too.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. Restoration can send surges or irregular voltage that disturb a control board. The code may appear only on the first start afterward.
A whole-home or appliance-rated protector can reduce risk, but ask an electrician about what suits your panel.
Tell us either way. A single-zone code and an all-zone code lead to different first measurements.
Model compatibility: Bertazzoni reuses codes across series and model years, so E06 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
