E27 in daily use
Parts of the Bay Area have harder water than others, and kettles and pasta pots that boil over leave a white ring on the glass after the water dries. On an induction cooktop that ring sits between the pan and the zone. In some kitchens E27 shows on that same zone, especially when the pan base is also scaled. It sounds trivial, yet it is a real contributor. The zone senses the pan through the glass.
Descaling a kettle before it sits on an induction zone helps both the kettle and the cooktop. A kettle with heavy scale takes longer and boils over more often.
Etching is the other concern. Long-standing mineral deposits can leave a dull patch on the glass that does not wipe off, and that surface can trap more residue. Avoid scouring pads. A cooktop cleaning paste made for ceramic glass, used sparingly, is a gentler path.
Checks that are safe for an owner
- Wipe the glass with a cloth dampened with a little white vinegar, then rinse with plain water and dry.
- Clean the underside of the pot too, since mineral film clings there as well.
- Compare with a clean, dry pan on the same zone to see whether the code behaves differently.
Meaning of the code
E27 is not confirmed with a single meaning on every Bertazzoni cooktop. For some models, a zone-level code could relate to what sits on the zone, and mineral build-up is one of several reasons a pan may be sensed poorly. The model number and testing decide what E27 really signals. A code that clears on a clean zone with a clean pan was about the surface, while one that stays says more about the zone itself.
Inside checks start with
If cleaning does not change anything, the first parts to look at are the coil under the affected zone, the connection to the board and the glass for etching. Heavy scale can also build on the underside of pans, so they are inspected as part of the diagnosis. Because each zone has its own coil, a coil or connection fault tends to stay with one zone while the others keep working.
Technician or not
If E27 returns on a clean zone with clean pans, the zone is not responding as it should, and a technician needs to test it. That involves lifting the cooktop and measuring live parts, which is not safe for owners. The estimate lists just what the tests support.
Frequently asked questions
They can interfere a little. Clean glass and a clean pan base give the zone its best chance.
A small amount on a cloth, then rinsed and dried, is generally fine. Keep it away from seams and edges.
Then a visit is the next step, because cleaning has ruled out the simple cause.
Model compatibility: Bertazzoni reuses codes across series and model years, so E27 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
